Taco’s Journey: Mission Accomplished!
Our adventure began early on March 5th at 6:30 AM in Kingman, AZ—though Taco had her own ideas about schedules. At the last minute, she decided she wasn’t quite ready to get into her carrier, which put us a bit behind. But once she was secured, we were off to Las Vegas!
Upon arrival at the airport, we were greeted by Fox 5 News Las Vegas and a member of the airport’s public relations team. After checking in for our Southwest Airlines flight, Taco and I did an interview and took photos with the news crew. Then it was time to head through security. While my TSA PreCheck went smoothly, Taco’s inspection took a little longer—apparently, TSA suspected she might be smuggling some catnip! After a thorough check in a private screening room, she was cleared, and we made our way to our gate.
For our flight, we chose to sit in the very back row, and it didn’t take long for the Southwest Airlines crew to fall in love with Taco. By the end of the flight, the entire crew was sporting Feral Cat Warriors (FCW) wristbands! After a short layover in St. Louis, we continued on to Philadelphia, where we safely landed and took a shuttle to our hotel. Taco settled in quickly and got some well-deserved rest before her big day.
The next morning, after a quick breakfast, we took a short Uber ride to PetSmart to meet her new family. We arrived early, which gave us some time to unwind and get all of Taco’s paperwork ready. Her adopter and the PetSmart store manager arrived at the same time, and after finalizing everything, we captured a special moment—a photo of Taco, her new mom, and the store manager, marking the beginning of her new chapter.
With Taco officially in her forever home, I headed back to the airport, returning to Kingman to prepare for our next journey—Stella J’s trip to Kansas! Stay tuned for more updates on our life-saving missions!
Thank you to everyone who made this journey possible! Your support, donations, and encouragement help us continue giving cats like Taco a second chance. 🐾💕
Taco’s Journey: From Wildfire Survivor to Forever Home
At Feral Cat Warriors (FCW), we believe every cat deserves a second chance, no matter how far they have to travel to find it. This March, we are thrilled to share the incredible journey of Taco, a resilient three-year-old orange tabby who survived the Los Angeles wildfires and is now preparing for the final leg of her journey to her forever home.
Taco’s Story
Taco’s journey began in California, where she was surrendered to the Pasadena Humane Society before the wildfires devastated the region. As shelters became overwhelmed with displaced animals, she was transferred to the Best Friends Adoption Center in downtown Los Angeles. With space running out, Taco was transported to Arizona, where she found temporary refuge thanks to a joint effort between FCW and its rescue partners.
After months of waiting, Taco’s perfect match was found—a loving adopter in Delaware! Now, it’s time for Taco to complete her cross-country journey to her forever home.
Flying to Her Future
On March 5th, Taco and FCW Operations Leader Charles Black will take to the skies, flying from Las Vegas, NV, to Philadelphia, PA on Southwest Airlines. Upon arrival, Charles will complete Taco’s adoption at the South Philadelphia PetSmart, ensuring she is safely placed in the arms of her new family.
